Villa Cava
The project
The house takes its name from the cellar: a spiral wine store sunk into the floor and seen through a circle of glass. Around it the ground floor is open and stone-led, with clad columns, timber-slat ceilings and a long dining table under a sculptural pendant. The stair is a dark timber blade over a planted bed of white pebbles. Outside, a side garden of grass-jointed stone steps runs beside a water channel to the terraces, where an outdoor kitchen, lounge and pool face the water.

From the sample table
Chosen in the hand, not on a screen
Finishes are selected in the studio from physical samples: stone slabs, timber and terrazzo trays, and yarn and colour boards for rugs, laid out against the drawings before anything is ordered.
